Tilting, a fishing community on the east coast of Fogo Island off Newfoundland’s northeast coast, is a living outport landscape of small wooden houses, outbuildings, gardens and pathways around its harbour. Its family neighbourhood clusters and fenced gardens illustrate adaptations of Irish settlement patterns and traditional outport life.

Scope & context

The cultural landscape, not Fogo Island as a whole.
