The Dominion Observatory Complex, built between 1902 and 1954 on the grounds of Ottawa’s Central Experimental Farm, is an outstanding collection of early-20th-century scientific buildings. It supported practical astronomy across Canada in surveying, time service and geophysics, and reflects the federal government’s vision of national scientific institutions in the capital.

Scope & context

The observatory complex, not Canadian astronomy as a whole.
