The Roger Gaudry Building at the Université de Montréal, built between 1928 and 1943 to designs by Ernest Cormier, is a Montréal landmark with an 82-metre central tower. Planned to include laboratories and a teaching hospital, it reflects French Canada’s new appreciation of science and research between the wars and the rise of a Francophone academic and scientific elite.
