Agathe de Saint-Père de Repentigny, textile entrepreneur of New France
Agathe de Saint-Père de Repentigny established a textile workshop in early-18th-century Montréal to address a shortage of fabric in New France. She developed dyes and cloth from local plants and fibres, and ransomed and hired English weavers who had been taken captive, pairing them with Canadian apprentices.
