Calgary’s Central Memorial Library and Park opened in 1912 and is one of the largest and most imposing of the 125 Carnegie libraries built in Canada. A project of local women led by Annie Davidson, funded with Andrew Carnegie, it served as the city’s main library until 1963 and as a social and cultural centre for more than a century.

Scope & context

The library and park, not Carnegie libraries in general.
