Factual accuracy review: No recorded challenge

No recorded challenge is not proof of accuracy. A challenge under review is not a finding that the item is false.

Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the national Inuit organization formerly called the Inuit Tapirisat of Canada, was founded in February 1971 by seven Inuit community leaders. It grew out of shared concern about land and resource ownership in Inuit Nunangat.

Scope & context

The organization’s founding, not its current programs or the regional Inuit organizations. ITK’s site gives both Toronto and Ottawa as the founding location; this claim states neither.
