Begin with a purpose
Before reading, choose one question you want the article to help you explore. You do not need to know the answer in advance. A purpose gives you something to look for and a way to notice what remains unclear.
Read, then pause
Read one section without rushing. Close the page or look away, and explain the central idea in your own words. If your explanation is vague, return to the passage and identify the words that carry its meaning.
Putting an idea into your own words helps you notice where your explanation is incomplete. The goal is not to repeat a sentence exactly, but to see whether you can explain its meaning.
Treat a question as feedback
A practice question gives you a specific claim to consider. Choose an answer, then read the explanation even if you answered correctly. Ask why the other choices do not fit the article.
A wrong answer is a reason to revisit the explanation, not a label on your ability. Practice is most useful here when you connect feedback back to the reading.
Know what the score leaves out
A short quiz samples a few ideas. It cannot cover every implication, measure all forms of understanding, or replace discussion and experience. A perfect score can be a useful checkpoint without being the end of learning.
A short quiz checks selected ideas rather than the whole of a subject. Use it alongside reflection, sources, conversation, and further reading.
Try the cycle
After your next article, write one sentence about the idea you understood best and one question you still have. Answer the practice questions. Return to the passage that explains any uncertain answer. Then decide what you want to explore next.
Test your understanding
Anonymous practice, without a timer. Check each answer to read its explanation. Results are not saved to a learner profile.
