The Hamilton Waterworks, a Victorian engineering feat
The Hamilton Waterworks in Ontario, built in 1857–1859 to a design by engineer Thomas C. Keefer, is one of Canada’s greatest surviving engineering achievements of the mid-19th century. Its steam-powered pumphouse supplied as much as five million gallons of water a day until 1910, and the complex survives largely intact.
